a website dedicated
to my original works of
a visit to the Jeanne Garnier hospice (Paris 15e)
in 2004, I saw many admirable paintings and sculptures made
by terminally ill patients just before dying. I came to the
realization that we all risk passing through this life
without discovering and fostering our full creative
potential. This gave me the motivation to dust off the
painting and drawing supplies from my school days and set to
gouache, wall paper, and cardboard became my close partners
in the exploration of the world of colors, shapes and curves. My
initial work, an art style reflecting movement, breathing
and activities of daily living, was motivated by the
desire to give temporary relief from pain and sorrow to my
eventual hospice observers.
relationships I developed in the hospice led me to draw
stylized initials, words and first names. I created
the logo "ValerieK" in the
form of an animation character who enlivens many of my
works. I created a website dedicated to this design
activity : LoveLettersCachet.com.
On my site you will
find other projects I have completed over the years. For
example, using a wall paper patchwork collage I created a
figure I call "Mood Monkey", which has delighted children
and adults alike as they interpret the art piece by
projecting their own feelings and mood onto it.
I used the design of an optimistic bird to incorporate
and celebrate the new year 2011.
trip to Washington D.C. led to the creation of my Maman
story. I have read it out loud to the delight of the
small children in several day care centers where I work.
love to recycle discarded materials I find here and there
and anywhere, sometimes in the street. I use these
rejected materials to create new works of art or for
now you know some of the keys to my creativity.
Please take a leisurely stroll around my site where you will
discover original artwork through the hyperlinks or on
the picture wall below.
